Hiking the Scotchman Peaks Wilderness Area

Hiking in Scotchman Peaks Wilderness

Hiking in the Scotchman Peaks Wilderness Area is an experience not to be missed.  You'll find here some of the most scenic views in North America, along with flora and fauna rarely found in the developed areas in which we live and work.

Getting away to enjoy some of the beauty that nature offers us allows one an opportunity to unwind and get up close and personal with both Mother Nature and the numerous species of wildlife that can be found within this breathtaking roadless area.

Check out our current Hiking Schedule and join us for one (or more) of our scheduled Guided Hikes (a great way to learn about the area from an experienced guide while you're enjoying its scenic beauty), or see our Self-Guided Hikes page if you'd prefer to explore the area on your own.  Either way you're sure to have a great time.   Check out the maps available on our Maps page, and read more about the hiking trails of this vast area by reading Trails Of The Wild Cabinets, available from Keokee Press.

Come visit for a day hike, an overnight hike, or an extended visit - the Scotchman Peaks Wilderness area will welcome you!

************ Important Announcement ***************

Snowshoes Left Behind On Scotchman Peak

On Sat April 25th, a pair of snowshoes fell out of a hikers pack and were inadvertantly left behind on Scotchman Peak. Be on the lookout for two black plastic, MSR Denali snowshoes with three rubber straps across the foot and one behind the heel.  They are likely to be found in open areas near the trail, but not necessarily on the trail, from the "Meadows" or in the thinly treed area above the "meadows" or even above timberline on the open south face belowt he main ridgeline leading to the summit.  If found, please contact us at Info@ScotchmanPeaks.org or call 208-255-2780, the owner will be very grateful.

Summer Hike leaders - keep an eye out for them, thanks!
