Carol Jenkins - IBR Women of the Year Honoree

On Tuesday the Idaho Business Review announced their list of honorees for the 2010 Idaho Business Women of the Year. We are proud to announce that Carol Jenkins, Vice-Chair/Idaho and Grant Writer for the Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness was among the individuals selected for this honor!

The 50 women selected will be honored in a special edition, glossy magazine published in the Idaho Business Journal on March 22 and honored at an awards dinner in Boise on March 18th. However, we can’t wait that long and will begin celebrating immediately!

Carol’s well deserved nomination reflects her prominent role in not one, but two businesses, both non-profits.

Many of you will know that as Vice-Chair/Idaho Carol has been our guiding hand in writing grants and helping with a critical expansion in the organizational capacity of the Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness. Carol’s ability to adapt and serve in various roles within our organization has been a tremendous asset. Carol’s steady hand and can do attitude have been critical to our efforts at developing public support in Sandpoint and the surrounding communities in Bonner County. She has been to “go to” person on many projects large and small throughout the year!

But, you may not be aware that Carol also spent 2009 in her 2nd year as President of the Kinnikinnick Native Plant Society. In this time, Carol presided over a year of critical transformation from being a chapter of INPS to a completely independant organization. Carol’s leadership was instrumental in firmly establishing the local “Grow Native” campaign working with the county and local businesses on showcasing and demonstrating the advantages of native plants in general as well as restoration landscape projects.

These are just a few of the successes Carol has brought to each organization as a result of her steady hand and calm guidance. For all of these, and more, please join me in congratulating Carol Jenkins, a 2010 IBR Women of the Year honoree!
