Event Description:
Welcome in the spring migration of bird life with fellow enthusiasts as we head out for a fun day to spot and enjoy both resident birds and our migrating feathered friends! We’ll visit a few different habitats as we scope for flying, hunting, roosting, and nest building birds of prey, woodpeckers, waterfowl and songbirds. Please come prepared for the day with binoculars, spotting scopes, field guide books, cameras, proper layers, lunch, water, and a flair for adventure, and laughs! Car pooling and full gas tanks appreciated.birdingBB
Our field guide for the day is Brian Baxter. Mr. Baxter has worked in the area for decades as a forester, wildlife researcher, and land survey technician. Brian has worked on various birds of prey projects concerning hawks, eagles, and owls. Baxter and Don Jones combined forces to publish an article in the winter edition of Sandpoint Magazine 2017, on winter birding with focus on birds of prey, waterfowl, woodpeckers and songbirds. Baxter has been instructing outdoor education programs for over 16 years.
On Saturday, April 28th, the group will meet at the Venture Inn (1015 West 9th Street (U.S. Hwy. 2) Libby, Montana).  We will meet at 9 am, briefly discuss birding handouts, then head to the field until about 3:30 pm.
