FSPW is seeking a full-time employee!

Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness is looking for a Assistant Program Coordinator to begin work April 15. This position if a permanent, full-time job that with a starting wage of $14 to $16, depending on experience. FSPW offers seven paid holidays and personal time off accumulated monthly.

The Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness Assistant Program Coordinator will assist in office administrative duties as well as engaging volunteers and coordinating logistics for year-round programs and projects, including youth and adult outreach, education, stewardship, advocacy and fundraising efforts. An energetic, easygoing, outgoing person with computer and media skills and an ability to communicate clearly and effectively is required. A basic knowledge of outdoor skills and love of wild places is a plus; adaptability and good sense of humor a must!

Sandy Compton has been program coordinator for Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness since 2009. He is also a storyteller and author of both fiction and non-fiction books, and the publisher at bluecreekpress.com.

In addition to his other duties, he runs the FSPW All Star Trail Team (www.scotchmanpeaks.org/trails), which works on Forest Service trails in the Scotchman Peaks. He is a trail surveyor as well, and a C-Certified Crosscut Bucker/Feller and USFS National Saw Policy OHLEC instructor.

Sandy grew up on a small farm/woodlot at the south end of the proposed wilderness and lives there still. He is also board member of the National Wilderness Stewardship Alliance and a planning team member for the Northern Rockies Wilderness Skills Institute.
