Directions to Trailhead or Meeting Location:

Take Highway 200 east from Sandpoint into Montana 12 miles to Montana Highway 56.There is parking at that intersection if you would like to carpool to the trailhead. Turn north on 56 6-plus miles and watch for a small sign on the right for Bighorn Lodge. The road directly across the highway from the Big Horn drive points to Pilik Ridge Trail #1036. Drive carefully on about a 200 yards to a large parking area on the left. The trail is across from the parking lot. In the event that this road is impassable because of snow, we will arrange to park elsewhere nearby and snowshoe into the trail head.

Hike Description:

This is a not-too-steep ridge trail from Bull River to the top of Pillick Ridge. From there, the ridge rolls west another 8 miles to Star Peak, affording spectacular views of Star Ridge, Bull River Valley, the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness and the Clark Fork River.

The plan is to go up until 1 or 2pm and then come down.

Plan for a full day so pack plenty of water, snacks and lunch. As well as something to put on the ground to sit on for our lunch break. Dress appropriately with warm layers and be prepared for changing weather.
