Does your comment really matter?
The answer is a resounding yes! Comments from everyday citizens are very helpful to elected officials when making all kinds of decisions.
They have proven to be necessary and powerful parts of wilderness campaigns.
Much of the great success the of the wilderness movement in protecting wild country is directly due to people like YOU picking up the phone, the pen or sitting at the keyboard for a few moments.
What can I say that will make a difference?
Sometimes people hesitate to make a comment, because they are unsure what they could say that would make a difference to a decision maker. It’s natural to think that my commissioner or congressman has already heard all the reasons for and against an issue, many times over.
Elected, and appointed, leaders are much more interested in what people and communities support, than in brilliant arguments justifying a certain policy. They will act when they hear from enough people in their community.
If you love wilderness; if you want to see the wild Scotchmans protected, then you can help make it happen! Just tell your community leaders that you want to see the Scotchmans designated as wilderness.
Tips for Writing your Congressional Rep
Although this page comes from Idaho Senator Crapo’s website, it has good advice for contacting any elected official, so it’s worth reading.
