FSPW Salutes Team Laughing Dog

The Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness salute Team Laughing Dog, the local bicycle team that will ride in the Race Across America (RAAM) in June to raise money for autism research and education. We are proud that two of our key volunteers (Treasurer Jacob Styer and Merchandise Manager Jim Mellen) are also vital members of Team Laughing Dog!

Styer is one of the three primary riders in the race, a 3,000 mile 24/7 jaunt
from California to Maryland; and Mellen is an alternate rider. Both are training hard this spring by winter climbing peaks in the Scotchmans and occasionally getting on a bicycle too!

FSPW salutes Team Laughing Dog Brewery, racing 24/7 for autismBut it takes the effort of many to undertake such an audacious outing. Team Laughing Dog members include riders Mel Dick, Al Lemire and Wayne Pignolet, alternate rider Mike Murray and support team members Kirk Johnson, Landy Hauk, Brian Anderson, Marty Stitsel, Dennis Luce, David and Lisa Barth and honorary team member Jackson Barth, for whom the whole team has been put together. Jackson has autism.

But these team members can’t pull off this race alone.  It takes a community. And, we are proud to be part of a community which comes together to support such worthwhile endeavors as protecting the Scotchman Peaks and Racing 24/7 for Autism!

FSPW is supporting Team Laughing Dog by providing sweatshirts with the design pictured above for the team to wear on their journey across America with a salutation from FSPW wishing TLD well.

We have also produced a limited number of these hooded sweatshirts for sale to the general public.  Proceeds from the sales of these sweatshirts will go to the fund that the team is raising to fight autism. They will be sold at both Team Laughing Dog and FSPW events. Locally they will be sold at Greasy Fingers Bikes and Repair Shop on 3rd street in Sandpoint or you can email jim@scotchmanpeaks.org

Help support FSPW, Team Laughing Dog and our community’s effort to raise money to fight autism!
