Directions to Trailhead or Meeting Location:

We will meet at the intersection of River Rd and Dry Creek Rd in Clark Fork, MT. From there, we will caravan to the trailhead. The road is pretty rough in spots with sharp rocks sticking out, so I'f you'd like to bring your car to the trailhead, make sure your vehicle can handle ruggedc conditions.   Here are the coordinates for the approximate meeting location: 48.075731, -116.095141   Here are some driving directions:   Coming from Sandpoint, just past the Cenex station in Clark Fork, turn right on N.Stephens St. which turns into River Rd. Follow that road approximately 7 miles to the Dry Creek junction. Turn right, there is plenty of room to park and wait for everyone.   Coming from the east, take the Heron exit  and stay on Heron Rd for 1.4 miles. After crossing the railroad tracks, turn left and go 0.2 miles. Turn right on Clark Fork Rd. After 5.4 miles, turn left onto Dry Creek Rd.

Hike Description:

Come join us for this fun, adventurous evening hike to a collapsed fire lookout, to hopefully watch the sunset, stars, and the moonrise over the Scotchmans.
Easy to moderate hike, just over 3 miles out and back, with a ~700′ elevation gain during the last part of the trail. Depending on the weather, we may need snowshoes and add a mile or two to the hike, but I will check it out and update everyone beforehand.
Headlamps are required, as we will be heading back in the dark. We will meet at the trailhead 5 pm Mountain Time.
