We will meet at the Star Peak Trailhead north of Big Eddy Campground on Highway 200 at 10 am Pacific Time (11 am MST) and return to the cars by 4 pm Pacific Time. For those interested in carpooling, we will coordinate closer to the date.
Hike Description:Join us for a tough but rewarding snowy excursion to Star Peak Lookout. This 10 mile (5 mile one way) hike has a 4000 elevation gain and it isn’t for the faint of heart. But the views awaiting you are well worth the climb! We’ll take it slow and steady, allowing for all interested parties to join. The first two miles of the trail are oftentimes free of snow, offering adventurers the opportunity to go hiking AND snowshoeing all in one day! Bring plenty of water, food, and extra layers of clothing (including spare socks and extra gloves/mittens) for all-day winter travel.
