It’s Wolverine Wednesday!

Happy New Year! We’re getting closer and closer to the start of this years field season. Don’t forget to mark your calendars, it’s time to go find some mustelids!

Just a few reminders:

This Saturday, January 5th is the volunteer training day. This training will be in partnership with the Idaho Conservation League and Selkirk Outdoor Leadership and Education Inc. It will be held at the Sandpoint Ranger Station (same place it was last year) at 12:30 pm. Attending this training day is highly encouraged for the station leaders, but all volunteers are welcome.

And on Tuesday, January 8th, come join us upstairs at Eichardt’s for Gianna Savoie’s Emmy nominated documentary “Wolverine: Chasing the Phantom.” This is a great opportunity to get out and meet other project volunteers while enjoying this beautiful film about wolverines. This event is for any volunteers: returnees and newbies. Please feel free to invite anyone who’s interested in the project. No host bar. Social hour begins at 6:30 pm and the movie will begin at 7:30 pm.

Calling all snowmobilers! FSPW is currently looking for volunteers with snowmachines!

Many of our points this year are located off of snowmobile trails or unplowed forest service roads. Some of these points are located in areas that would take many hours/days to reach by ski or snowshoe. The assistance of snowmachines would greatly increase our ability to access the edges of these wilder places. If you have a snowmobile (or two) and would be interested in volunteering please let me know! We would greatly appreciate your help and would be willing to compensate for gas. Please email me at lauren@scotchmanpeaks.org or call (607-377-9912)!

Well that’s it for this week, see you all this Saturday!
