Wolverine Wednesday Update

Hello Wolverine Volunteers!

I hope everyone enjoyed a fun and happy holiday week! Best wishes from all of us here at the Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness as we greet 2012 this Sunday. We’re looking forward to a great year for the Idaho Panhandle Wolverine Project!

I’ve just returned to the office and have a few updates for you before we close out the 2011 season:

Chasing the Phantom:  You won’t want to miss this special night!

While we’re waiting for the bait to arrive, we want to host a special volunteer event to show our appreciation for your patience and your commitment to the wolverine project. On Tuesday, January 3rd, we will be showing filmmaker Gianna Savoie’s Emmy nominated documentary “Wolverine: Chasing the Phantom” at the Ivano’s wine bar in Sandpoint, ID. This is a great opportunity to get out and meet other project volunteers while enjoying this beautiful film about wolverines. This event is exclusively for our volunteer crew, but if you have friends who want to be involved in the project, please feel free to bring them along. The no-host bar with appetizers and beverages will open at 6:00pm, and we’ll begin the film at 6:30pm.

**We also have a special surprise to hand out to our volunteer crew before the film begins!

Stories From the Field:

This weekend saw the installation of our first wolverine monitoring stations! Executive Director and project volunteer Phil Hough shares his story from the field on our website. From frozen bindings to creek crossings, you can read about his experience by clicking here.

A Special Surprise for our Volunteers:

As I mentioned in the blurb on “Chasing the Phantom”, we have a special surprise for our dedicated volunteers. If you are unable to attend Tuesday’s film, we invite you to stop by the office and pick it up, or ask to have it included in your packet. You need to have completed your survey and volunteer waiver to receive the surprise, so send those my way if you haven’t already.

Office Hours:

My office hours are Saturday through Wednesday 10:00am to 4:00pm.  Days may vary once we get into the field season, but in general you can find me by the computer during those times. Feel free to stop by if you need anything!

As always, you may contact me at mustelids@scotchmanpeaks.org with any questions or concerns.

Cheers!
