Meet at Little Joe, Montana. Milepost 25 ± on Montana Highway 56 approximately 15 miles south of Troy

Hike Description:

Little Spar Lake sits in a rugged basin within the shadows of 7009-foot Scotchman Peak. The trail to it follows one of the most scenic and dramatic stream valleys in the entire Cabinet Mountain range. You will pass through groves of giant cedars and Western hemlocks, skirt below cliffs, and blaze across wildlife-rich meadows. You will hike past Spar Peak and cross Spar Creek and a couple of other small drainages en route to the lake. Elevation gain is 1,800 feet. Round trip distance is 10 miles and will take between 5-7 hours.
