It’s Wolverine Wednesday!

Happy Wolverine Wednesday Everyone!

It’s been yet another busy week here at the Wolverine Project headquarters.  As much as I hate to say it, this will be your last Wolverine Wednesday Update of the season.  I know it’s sad, but you’ll all have to start reading the newspaper again.  I know many of you won’t be able to make it to the party this Sunday, so I’d like to take this opportunity to extend a very hearty thank you from all of us here at FSPW.  You have done exceptional work this season, and we’re very proud of what we’ve accomplished together.  You’ve made this project a huge success.

The Lynx…

It’s been a great week.  For those of you who haven’t checked our Facebook page in the last few days, you should stop what you’re doing and follow this link to our Wolverine Project photo album.   A Lynx visited a camera station set up in the Purcells by our partners at IDFG, and they’ve given us an amazing series of Reconyx images that offer a very candid look at this rare and beautiful cat.  These photos have created quite a buzz on the internet, and saw over 50 shares in two days.  They’re also singlehandedly responsible for earning us 100 new Facebook Friends in that same time.  That might make these images our most successful outreach of the season!  Thanks Lynx.

April 1st Wolverine Crew Party:

This Sunday, April 1st, is the end of the season Wolverine Crew party, and we’re going to have a lot of fun!  This will be a pot-luck event with beverages provided by FSPW.  We’ll kick off the festivities at 2:00pm at the Eureka Institute Annex located at 513 Oak St. in downtown Sandpoint.  We’ll share a summary of project results, hand out awards to exceptional volunteers, and enjoy the stories of backcountry adventures from our wolverine stations.  We’ll also have a slideshow of memorable photos from the season, both from volunteers and the wildlife cameras.  We’ll wrap up by 5:00pm with the hope that we’ll see everyone again next season.  You won’t want to miss this event!

All project participants are invited.  I know there are many friends and neighbors who assisted you with your stations throughout the season, so please feel free to bring them along.  We’d love to meet more of our volunteers!

***Please bring a reusable or recyclable dinner set, a chair if you want one, and a dish to pass.  FSPW will provide adult beverages and other thirst quenchers.

Local Mountaineer to Share His Adventures:

Karl Dietrich, an accomplished local mountaineer will be presenting a slide show of his alpine adventures at the Laughing Dog Brewery on March 29th at 6PM in Ponderay, ID.  The show is brought to you compliments of the Friends of IPAC and it should be an exciting armchair experience for anyone interested in mountaineering.  Karl has tallied several first ascents as well as ascents in the mountains of British Columbia and Alberta.

Thanks again to all our volunteers and supporters for making this a great season.  As always, feel free to contact me with any comments or questions.

Cheers!
