Roughly 60 miles south of Canada, the 88,000 acre Scotchman Peaks roadless area spans the Idaho-Montana border. Since the 1970s, when the U.S. Forest Service carried out extensive evaluations of lands suitable for wilderness, this rugged, scenic and biologically diverse portion of the Cabinet Mountains has been managed for its wilderness potential. The Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness believe now is the time to preserve the Scotchmans, one of the last, and largest, wild areas in our region.

Links

Links from one site to another are wonderful things – the very structure of this delicate, web-like thing we call the internet or the "web" (a shortened version of "world wide web") as in, "are you on the web?" or "do you have your own web site?"……..links are not always relevant, but always very necessary in order to traverse this beautiful maze.

We hope you’ll find our collection of links to be not just relevant but also interesting, educational, informative, and possibly entertaining.

Each of these sites are involved, either directly or indirectly, in the active support and protection of the environment, promoting enjoyment of the outdoors and wilderness areas, and protection of the wildlife with which we share this earth.

Please visit their sites and support them as well.

(If you find any links that don’t work, please drop up an email to: Info@ScotchmanPeaks.org
so that we can correct the problem.)

Montana Wilderness Association – the wonderful folks at this community-based organization has worked for many years to protect Montana’s wilderness, wildlife habitat, and traditional recreation opportunities.  Because the Scotchman Peaks Wilderness area spans both Idaho and Montana, a number of the Friends of Scotchman Peaks are also members of this great association as well.  Find out more at www.wildmontana.org
