Starting May 1st, Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness is launching Hike-a-Day-May, a brand new month-long challenge! Join in on the fun as we get our hiking legs underneath us and prepare for a summer packed with stewardship work and community.
Why Hike-a-Day-May? May is Mental Health Awareness Month and getting outside in nature is proven to benefit your mental health. After a long, dark, and not-so-snowy winter, we could all use a fresh start to the summer. We can’t think of a better way to get ready for the season ahead than by lacing up our hiking boots and getting outside as much as possible.
We’ll wrap up the month together at National Trails Day celebrations the first weekend of June in Bonner, Lincoln, and Sanders Counties (details to come)!
Here’s how it works:
- Pick a fun trail name and add yourself to our tracking sheet –> [HERE]
- Hike any trail, any distance!
- Bring your friends, make some new ones, or enjoy the solace
- Log your miles each day you hike
- Don’t forget to tag us on Instagram and Facebook!
There is no official sign-up form, just the spreadsheet to track your miles and share the stoke. The hiker with the most days on trail in May earns the title of Hike-a-Day-May Royalty and gets featured in our Insider newsletter and on our website.
We can’t wait to see where the trails take you this May!
