Event Description:
Join FSPW and Yaak Valley Forest Council for Know Your Water, a community water quality field day on Saturday, October 17th, 2026. Hear from local experts, get hands-on with the tools used to measure water quality, and spend some time outdoors.
We’ll gather at the Bad Medicine Campground picnic area at 10:00am MDT for a talk by Josh Boyd on what water quality tells us about the health of our streams, and why it matters for fish, wildlife, and the watershed as a whole. After the talk, stick around to see our water quality multimeter up close. It’s the same tool field crews use to measure pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, and more across Lincoln County. Ask questions, try it out, and see how we turn these readings into a picture of watershed health.
Afterward, it’s your choice. Stay local and grab lunch with the group at the Halfway House, or hike to Ross Creek Cedars to see how water can impact a landscape. If you join the hike, bring your own lunch and plan for 7 miles round trip with 600 feet of elevation gain.
To RSVP or ask questions, email Morgan at morgan@yaakvalley.org or Isabelle at isabelle@scotchmanpeaks.org
