December is a great time to make a commitment to stewardship of the Scotchman Peaks

Twenty-seventeen has been a good year for Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness. In terms of outreach and education, it might even be called epic. What all did we do?

Our volunteers led over 350 kids through our Winter Tracks program and certified a dozen-plus men and women for Wilderness and Remote First Aid.

Our hike leaders took dozens of people hiking in the Scotchmans — and didn’t lose a single soul — and the FSPW trail crew reworked and refreshed hundreds of feet of trail and cleared dozens of blow-downs to keep trails open and sustainable in the West Cabinets.

On the designation front, FSPW staff worked tirelessly in 2017 with our partners in conservation and the staff of Senator Risch’s office to move toward reintroduction of the Scotchman Peaks Wilderness Bill.

We look forward to an equally successful 2018, and ask you to join us in our mission to protect the Scotchmans with a financial gift or a few hours of your time as a volunteer, by hosting a house party or simply urging friends and family to support our cause by becoming a Friend.

We wish you a wonderful holiday season this year and a happy and successful 2018. Thanks very much for your continued support. We couldn’t do it without you!
