Cameron Rasmusson

Communications Specialist

Cameron Rasmusson is a writer and journalist who grew up in Scotchmans territory. While he now calls Sandpoint home, he spent his formative years in the natural beauty of Libby, Montana. From elementary to high school, he enjoyed the outdoor experiences that mountain towns provide.

Following high school, he attended the University of Montana School of Journalism. His first job out of school took him to Sandpoint as a staff writer for the Bonner County Daily Bee in late 2010.The work introduced him to the Sandpoint community and honed his skills as a writer and reporter.

At the beginning of 2015, Cameron was recruited to help relaunch the Sandpoint Reader by co-owners Ben Olson and Chris Bessler. Serving as editor, Cameron and the Reader staff covered Idaho arts, entertainment, and current events from their small Cedar Street office.

Cameron stepped down as full-time editor of the Reader in 2019 to pursue other goals. One of the goals is working with the Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness to save our wild backyard. He also continues his work with the Reader as editor at large and is taking steps to enroll in law school.
