From Libby/Troy take highway 2 to highway 56. Just After mile marker 25 (Little Joe's), turn right onto Troy Mine Road. At 3 miles take the right fork onto the first road where the sign says "spar lake". Follow this road as it turns to the left at the next fork, again following the signs for spar lake. After a couple more miles, turn left at the intersection, following the signs to Spar Lake. Continue past the campground a few miles until the road ends at the parking for the trailhead. From Sandpoint, take highway 200 to highway 56. Just before milemarker 25, turn left onto Troy Mine Road. At 3 miles take the right fork onto the first road where the sign says "spar lake". Hike Description:Labor up Spar Peak on this Labor Day! Come along as we get a sneak peak at fall colors while enjoying the end of summer. Often still thick with huckleberries, this 3,000 feet elevation gain hike has a lot of “up” with amazing views as your reward. About 8 miles round trip we will ascend from the creek floor through massive cedars and then follow cub creek to our Ridgeline for the final push to the top with jaw dropping 360° views.
