Just a few days left in 2017 to help get kids outdoors

Part of the ongoing stewardship of the proposed Scotchman Peaks Wilderness by FSPW is a commitment to outdoor education, demonstrated by our Winter Tracks program for local students as well as other seasonal classes and school days dedicated to introducing kids and adults alike to water quality, riparian life, forest ecology, birds, tracking, safe winter travel and more.

Continuing education for adults is very important, but any time someone leads a kid into the woods and teaches them about the magic inherent in wild country, they are doing the planet a huge favor. If we are going to have a legacy of Wilderness to leave our grandchildren, it is essential that we teach our children the importance of protecting such places.

In 2017, FSPW staff and volunteers taught 10 days of Winter Tracks classes in Idaho and Montana. In 2018, that total will rise to 15. Join us in our commitment to the future of our children and the future of Wilderness with a financial gift, a few hours of your time as a volunteer, by hosting a house party or simply urging friends and family to support our cause by becoming a Friend.

Aldo Leopold said, “I am glad I shall never be young without wild country to be young in.” Today is a good day to lend a hand in moving the future generations toward a tomorrow with Wilderness. We can’t do it without you.
